Get your feet ready for Summer

You know that Summer is around the corner when you look at your feet and panic sets in; you’ve neglected your toe nails, ignored the verrucae and hidden the hard skin – it’s time for action.

We are giving away 10 foot creams to help!

And, remember, our orthotics are not just for adults, they are not just for runners … find out how our outgrow programme can save you money on children’s orthotics.

Savings on children’s Orthotics

Orthotics can offer several benefits for children:

Correcting Gait Abnormalities: Orthotics help address irregular walking patterns, ensuring more efficient and stable movement.

Reducing Pain and Discomfort: By providing proper support and alignment, orthotics can alleviate discomfort associated with foot, ankle, or leg issues.

Improving Posture: Orthotics encourage better posture by maintaining the natural alignment of the feet and legs.

Enhancing Balance and Stability: Children with balancechallenges can benefit from orthotics, which promote stability during walking and other activities.

Improving Mobility: Orthotics assist in achieving age-appropriate motor milestones by optimizing walking patterns and movement.

Preventing Further Damage or Complications: Early intervention with orthotics can prevent long-term issues related to foot structure and function.

Remember that each child’s needs are unique, and visiting a podiatrist for a biomechanical assessment is vital to determine if orthotics would be suitable and beneficial for your child. Our Podiatrist, Patricia Avery, offers a biomechanical assessment service and is able to cast, order and fit bespoke orthotics for children and adults.

There is also an outgrow programme which is available to all children under the age of 16 so their orthotics can be replaced as their feet grow. The programme offers the following discounted rates:

  • 50% discount on a second set of outgrow orthotics within 18 months ofthe initial casting, and
  • 33% discount on the third set, or subsequent sets, of outgrow orthoticswithin 18 months of the second casting, and so on.

Note that the offer is only applicable within 18 months of the child being cast for orthotics at each stage of the process. For the discounts to apply, all outgrow orthotics must be cast prior to the child’s 16th birthday. After which, adult orthotics can be provided at the regular adult fee. Wearing sandals and flip flops in the Summer can play havoc with your feet.

In the Summer feet can be prone to dryness and cracked heels, and can be easily injured in open footwear. Keep your feet healthy by:

  • Washing your feet regularly and drying them thoroughly
  • Removing hard skin on a regular basis
  • Cutting toenails across the toes not into the corners
  • Moisturising daily
  • Wearing appropriate footwear, for example, on long walks or on uneven ground. Also, in crowded areas eg at music festivals or on your busy commute.

If you have any foot problems such as in-growing toenails, fungal nails, corns, verrucae, pain, etc, see your podiatrist or foot healthcare practitioner for advice asap.

Podiatry and Osteopathy – A match made in Heaven

With patient consent, our podiatrists and osteopaths sometimes collaborate to provide a more holistic approach to patient care, not just by addressing a specific foot condition but, if appropriate, by also taking into account the patient’s overall musculoskeletal health and how that may, or may not, be impacting their lower limb issues.

In fact, our empathetic and knowledgeable team members are dedicated to helping you find pain relief and regain or improve mobility through our range of treatments, be it osteopathy, rehabilitation, massage, acupuncture and/or podiatry. Call us on 020 8977 3295 to make an appointment.
