Our Latest Blog – Understanding Pain

Vikki Bradley, rehabilitation and sports Massage therapist, writes about understanding pain. Vikki says:

“You learn pain – it’s an adaptation of the nervous system based on context and past experiences. You feel the hurt in the tissues but the problem is in the nervous system, and this we can retrain”.

An extremely interesting and informative read, particularly if you are one of the many people in the UK suffering from persistent pain.

Vikki treats a variety of musculoskeletal complaints, including sporting injuries, post-operative, amputee, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, as well as general joint and muscle aches and pains. Vikki has specialised in foot and running biomechanics, working in a number of expert London clinics, with her MSc thesis based on this subject area.

Sports Massage Update

We are delighted to introduce a new member of the team. Ruth Ann Head, sports massage therapist, is joining us to cover for Cindy Milway while Cindy takes time off due to some health issues. Cindy is doing well but may not be back for a few months. We wish her a very speedy recovery.

Ruth has been working as a sports massage therapist since 2010 and is a member of the ISRM. She has a breadth of experience including treating:

• runners at the London Marathon
• cyclists engaged in long distance events, and
• skiiers during time spent in the Alps

She is currently in her final year studying Osteopathy and comes highly recommended by Cindy.  Speak to reception for further information or if you wish to make an appointment with Ruth.

Reiki Offers and Extended Hours

Our reiki therapist, Amy Fiske, is now available on alternate Saturdays as well as Tuesdays.

We have 20 reiki taster sessions available at only £10 per session. These will be offered on a first come first served basis and can be booked on any Saturday afternoon when Amy is available between now and the end of January 2020.  Speak to our reception team to book your slot.

Having experienced the positive effects of reiki treatment on her own health, Amy was inspired to become a practitioner.  She completed Reiki Level 1 in 2015 and Level 2 in 2016.  She is a member of both The Reiki Association and The Reiki Academy London and is a Reiki Science practitioner.
