Alex Murray, TCM Acupuncture Therapist
Alex has worked in the NHS since 2001. He is part of a dedicated team of acupuncturists committed to the provision of integrated healthcare within a community setting in South London. This busy and award-winning clinic receives referrals directly from local GPs, consultants and physiotherapists for a broad range of pain-related conditions, and frequently generates research into the treatment of pain using acupuncture.
Since 2003 Alex has also been employed in various capacities by the University of Westminster, most recently as a clinic supervisor and faculty lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences. He has also engaged in and completed further postgraduate study in subjects as diverse as medical history, higher education and the neuroscience of pain.
Regarding his private practice, Alex tends to practise more as a “generalist”, for example, helping in the management of the more common digestive, dermatological, auto-immune, mood, respiratory, and musculoskeletal disorders. He has also developed a professional speciality in treating issues associated with women’s reproductive health and has nurtured an interest in treating children, partly due to having a young family of his own.
His approach to treatment is a holistic one, often combining acupuncture with additional interventions such as herbal medicine, massage, dietary therapy and exercise in order to achieve the maximum therapeutic benefit according to the specific needs of the individual.
Alex is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) & the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM). Call 020 8977 3295 for more information.
